Excellent location. Like staying at Grandma's house. Clean and very large rooms.
Very quaint and comfortable. Exceptionally friendly staff!
The house and rooms are older, musty, and have basic amenities. The bed is comfortable, and the Inn is pet-friendly, but the walls are paper-thin and the floors quite creaky. I can appreciate a building with vintage charm, but this place just needs some updating. The only perks of the place are its location and reasonable price.
I felt so ashamed, so embarrassed, by the hostess' reaction to my accidentally locking myself out. I can't imagine ever returning to this Inn, and cannot recommend it to other travelers, despite the location and price.
Additionally, despite the numerous "No Smoking" signs throughout the older home, the stench of stale smoke radiated throughout from the hostess's quarters. "Continental breakfast" is laughable - you're much better off scoring some baked goods and delicious coffee from Boxwood Coffee or other business a short walk from the Inn.
Check in was easy and the place is clean but there is an odor in the lobby and the furniture was worn. The breakfast was cold cereal and breakfast bars. There is no central air so the window air conditioner was loud. The room was large but the floors are creaky. The room television was from the 1980s. The hostess was friendly and the location was very nice to walk to town for restaurants. The place does need maintenance inside and out so it has a spooky feel. So overall I give it an okay rating but if you like older places give it a try but I won't go back.
The hostess is friendly, until you accidentally lock yourself out of the house. At 10pm, I called and called and called to get in the house, and she finally came to the door obviously grumpy and pissed. I get it - I don't like being pulled out of bed either, but as a hostess of an Inn who lives on site, I imagine she ought to make herself available for any kinds of needs and emergencies... or at least have a keyless entry system.
This is an charming old school place, don't visit expecting the flawless facilities of a modern Comfort Inn. It's got decent internet, and free parking, less than 1/4 mile from the NJ Transit, and a 40 minute ride into NYC.
